A Collaboration between
NAKAOCHIAI GALLERY in Tokyo
and TRIPLE BASE STUDIO in San Francisco Instant Drawing Machine(IDM) integrates art into daily life, and
is designed to challenge the boundary that divides the seer from
the seen. On IDM, the artists CRUST and DIRT broadcast live from
their San Francisco studio and engage viewers globally using the
Internet and a Web-cam by instantly drawing their dreams. IDM was
created by Oliver Halsman Rosenberg and Clint Taniguchi, who have
been working collaboratively as CRUST and DIRT on a variety of
community based projects since 2003. IDM developed out of the desire
and opportunity for Taniguchi to use Web-cam technology to communicate
with gallery visitors at the Nakaochiai Gallery in Tokyo. Since
its gallery debut, Julia Barnes has taken IDM to the streets of
Tokyo and Shanghai. Coordinating with CRUST and DIRT, Barnes has
taken on the mission of sharing IDM with communities around the
world. For more information CRUST and DIRT: www.basebasebase.com
